SALINAS VALLEY — A total of $25,000 has been awarded to 10 students from Salinas Valley who were selected as the 2024 Raymond H. Costa Family Scholarship recipients.
Recipients are high school graduates, undergraduates or graduate students at California academic institutions who work, or their parents work, at local McDonald’s restaurants.
“Many of our scholarship recipients are the first in their families to have the opportunity and means to attend college,” said McDonald’s Owner/Operator Raymond H. Costa. “We are honored to help support these incredibly dedicated and talented students attend college.”
The Raymond H. Costa Family Scholarship is solely funded by the Costa Family who owns and operates local McDonald’s restaurants, including those in the Salinas Valley.
The program is administered through the Community Foundation for Monterey County. Since the scholarship fund was created in 2017, they have awarded more than $419,000 to 151 scholarship recipients.
“Our goal since the start of this program is to help make positive contributions to the lives of our employees and their families through supporting their educational pursuits,” Costa said.
This year’s scholarship recipients are:Alfredo Hernandez, California State University (CSU) Fresno, Giselle Hernandez-Hernandez, Hartnell College, and Francisco Sandoval, CSU Fresno, all of King City; Adriana Cervantes, University of California Davis, and Emanuel Martinez, CSU Monterey Bay/CSU Long Beach, both of Greenfield; Joanna Gomez-Tovar, Hartnell College, of Soledad; Alexa Zendejas-Trujillo, CSU Monterey Bay, Brian Lopez, San Diego State University, Jesus Ortiz-Ramos, University of Southern California, and Joel Lopez Jr., CSU San Marcos, all of Salinas.
