KING CITY — Community members came together last Tuesday to celebrate National Night Out in King City.

Held at the King City Fire Station, the evening was filled with food, games, resources and fun activities, including the popular dunk tank, where residents had a chance to dunk their local KCPD officers and KCFD volunteer firefighters.

New this year was the Mechanical Bull Challenge, during which Ebony Mathis conquered with an impressive time of 1:21 minutes. She won a New Holland tool set sponsored by Coastal Tractor of King City.

The Aug. 6 celebration highlighted the strong bonds between neighbors and law enforcement, emphasizing the importance of unity and community collaboration.

Sponsored by King City police and fire departments, the annual event is a community-building campaign that promotes safety by encouraging neighbors to work together and with law enforcement. Local police officers and firefighters barbecued free hot dogs, showed off emergency vehicles and mingled with residents.

Fort Hunter Liggett personnel also stopped by to meet with the community.
