NEW FIRE STATION

LOCKWOOD — A grand-opening celebration is set for Saturday, Feb. 17, for the new South Monterey County Fire Protection District station in Lockwood. The dedication of Lockwood Fire Station #43 begins at noon at 68875 Jolon Road.


POTHOLE REPAIR

KING CITY — The City of King Public Works Department has ordered over 25 tons of material to repair potholes that have occurred, which are largely the result of the recent storms. Public Works staff began repairing potholes on major roadways Feb. 8 and will continue through this week. Residents are encouraged to report any significant potholes in the roadways to City Hall at 831-385-3281 or online at the City’s website kingcity.com, under “Submit a Request.”


VOTER REGISTRATION

MONTEREY COUNTY — The last day to register to vote for the March 5, 2024, Presidential Primary Election is Tuesday, Feb. 20. Eligible citizens can register to vote: online at RegisterToVote.ca.gov; in-person by 5 p.m. at the Monterey County Elections office, 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, Salinas; by mail completing a paper voter registration application, postmarked by Feb. 20. The forms are available at libraries, post offices, DMV, and city/county offices. To register to vote, you must be: (1) a United States Citizen; (2) a California resident; (3) at least 18 years of age on or before Election Day; (4) not be in federal or state prison for the conviction of a felony; and (5) not found mentally incompetent to vote by a court. Voters who miss the registration deadline can still register conditionally and cast a provisional ballot in person at any early vote location or at a local polling place.
