KING CITY — Mee Memorial Healthcare System, based in King City, has been selected to participate in the Rural Healthcare Provider Transition Project (RHPTP), which is designed to help strengthen the foundations of small rural hospitals and certified rural health clinics in the key elements of value-based care, including efficiency, quality, patient experience and safety.
RHPTP is supported through a cooperative agreement with the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Federal Office of Rural Health Policy (FORHP) and administered by the National Rural Health Resource Center. The goal is to guide rural hospitals and clinics to prepare for and position their organizations to be effective participants in a health system focused on value.
Mee Memorial Healthcare System will receive technical assistance through comprehensive consultations with nationally recognized consultants.

Only five hospitals or clinics are selected on an annual basis to participate in RHPTP.
The selection process is competitive, and the top five applicants that meet eligibility criteria and organizational readiness and demonstrate that they are willing and able to complete participation requirements are chosen. Each organization’s leadership and its commitment to implementing best practices are also considered during the selection process.
With the support of the FORHP, the National Rural Health Resource Center recognized Mee Memorial Healthcare System for this outstanding accomplishment and is looking forward to working with the organization and its community surrounding King City.
Mee Memorial Healthcare System is the primary healthcare organization serving the rural communities of South Monterey County. Overall, its healthcare professionals serve a population of nearly 80,000 within an area spanning over 55 miles from Soledad to Bradley.
The Mee network includes a hospital in King City and a number of comprehensive outpatient clinics, an occupational health services clinic and the Albert and Donna Oliveira Clinic in Greenfield.
