SOLEDAD — Volunteers and donations are needed for the fourth annual Front Street’s Spook Fest, which is set for Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Cesar Chavez Park. The following list of volunteer opportunities and items are still needed: six hay bales for décor, 10 dried corn stalks for décor, one family-friendly DJ, various Trunk or Treat participants, candy donations (nut free) and a photographer. KING CITY — Sponsors and trunks are needed for King City Recreation Department’s sixth annual Trunk or Treat Halloween event at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds’ Expo Lawn on Tuesday, Oct. 31, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. This is a great opportunity for businesses, individuals and organizations to show their community support. This year, more than 1,000 children are expected to attend Trunk or Treat. Sponsor donations will help purchase supplies for the event, publicity, costume contest prizes and more. A sponsorship could be a cash donation or donation of items for prizes, such as gift cards or bags of candy. DRUG DISPOSAL
GONZALES — Gonzales Police Department will be accepting all unused or expired prescription drugs during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 28. In partnership with Sun Street Centers, prescription drugs can be dropped off at the police station, 109 Fourth St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with no questions asked. No illegal substances or needles will be accepted.

KING CITY — King City in Bloom is hosting a Stringing Lights Work Day on Saturday, Oct. 28, to restring wreaths with more efficient lights to decorate downtown King City for the holidays. Participants will meet at 8:30 a.m. at the King City Veterinary Hospital parking lot before taking a caravan to the location where the wreaths are stored.
