CENTER RELOCATES
SALINAS — Monterey County is continuing its Local Assistance Center (LAC) support for residents impacted by winter storms. A second LAC opened Jan. 28 at the Monterey County Government Center – Schilling Place, 1441 Schilling Place, in Salinas, and will be available through Sunday, Feb. 5, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily. The first center at the Spreckels Veterans Memorial Building closed on Jan. 26. Monterey-Salinas Transit will continue to provide free bus service to the center from Pajaro and San Ardo. Any resident who has been affected by the winter storms is encouraged to stop by the LAC and take advantage of the support services and assistance that is being offered from local, state and federal agencies as well as nonprofits and charitable organizations.
POP-UP PANTRY
SALINAS VALLEY — Hartnell College will host a pop-up pantry food distribution for students in South Monterey County on Tuesdays, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7. The distribution will take place at 11 a.m., while supplies last, at the King City Education Center, 117 N. Second St., and the Soledad Education Center, 1505 Metz Road. It is open to enrolled Hartnell students, who must bring their Hartnell ID to receive one bag each.
PURPOSE WORKSHOP
KING CITY — Sol Treasures along with Blue Zones Project will host a free Purpose Workshop on Saturday, Feb. 4, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the gallery, 519 Broadway St., in King City. The workshop, open to the community and students age 15 years and older, will help attendees discover a clear definition of their gifts or deepen their sense of purpose.
