MURAL DEDICATION

KING CITY — Monterey County Dance Foundation is hosting a dedication ceremony for its mural, “A Tribute to the Nutcracker,” on Friday, June 17, at 3 p.m. Gloria Sanchez, a Hartnell College student and King City High School alumna, designed and led the painting of the mural, with the help of four other students. A ribbon cutting, dedication, refreshments and cake are planned at the Monterey County Dance Theatre studio, 332 Bassett St., in King City.

ARTIST TALK

SALINAS — National Steinbeck Center will host an artist talk and reception for Steve Zmak on Saturday, June 18, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Zmak’s exhibit, “Icons of Monterey County,” is on display through July 31 at the center, 1 Main St., in Salinas. The talk will be about the exhibit that spans Steinbeck Country, and the creative and technical thinking behind each photograph — long exposures, multiple exposures, panorama stitching, unconventional lighting techniques and more.

GRIEF SUPPORT

SALINAS VALLEY — Heal Together, a program of Coastal Kids Home Care, will join with nonprofit housing developer CHISPA’s summer activities program to offer residents of Salinas and Greenfield grief and bereavement care. Classes, running from June 13 to Aug. 4, will include art, food, wellness, yoga, tai-chi and Zumba and will be offered at three locations in Salinas (Harden Ranch Apartments, La Gloria Apartments and Sherwood Village) and one in Greenfield (Walnut Place Townhomes). If the pilot program is highly utilized, plans will go into effect to offer more grief and bereavement services at additional locations for the fall program. For dates and locations, or more information, call 831-320-0947 or go to heal-together.org.
