KING CITY — A King City couple was arrested for child endangerment following an altercation with family members at a local residence on Independence Day.
Officers from the King City Police Department responded to an “unknown disturbance” report at a residence in the 400 block of Canal Street at about 3:40 p.m. on July 4. Prior to the officers’ arrival, multiple parties involved in the altercation at the home also stopped by the local police station.
After contacting the involved parties and investigating the incident, police determined that Samantha Marie Garcia Medskir, 22, and Amansio Parra Carrillo, 29, both from King City, had endangered the lives of their two young children during the altercation with numerous family members.
According to police, Carrillo recklessly drove a vehicle occupied by him, Medskir and their children who were in the backseat, endangering their safety.
“During the incident, Carrillo used the vehicle he was driving to cause injury to numerous family members at the scene,” police said in a news release. “During the subsequent investigation, Carrillo was found to have operated the motor vehicle while under the influence of a drug.”
Carrillo was arrested for several charges, including child endangerment, assault with a deadly weapon and DUI of drugs causing bodily injury. Medskir was also arrested for child endangerment. Both were taken to the Monterey County Jail.
Monterey County Child Protective Services was contacted and the children were placed into protective custody.
“The investigation is continuing, and no other information is being released at this time,” police said.
