KING CITY — An 18-year-old King City man has been arrested in connection with stealing thousands of dollars worth of equipment from the King City Fire Department.
On July 19, at about 12:17 p.m., King City Police responded to the report of a burglary at the local fire station at 422 Bassett St. Fire department personnel reported that property valued at about $3,000 had been stolen while the station was secured but unattended.
Items taken from the station included a fire services emergency radio, chainsaw and about 20 helmet-mounted headlamps.
“All these items play a critical role in the fire department’s efforts to ensure the safety of the King City community,” police said in a news release.
An investigation led to the identification of the burglary suspect, 18-year-old Richard Silva of King City, who was already in custody at the Monterey County Jail for an unrelated matter. Silva was arrested July 22 and charged with burglary.
