SOUTH COUNTY — Thousands of South County children and their families were treated to events full of frightful fun last Thursday for Halloween.

King City Recreation Department hosted “Trunk or Treat” for a second time Oct. 31 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, where local businesses and organizations decorated the trunks of their vehicles and passed out candy to trick-or-treaters. The event also included games and dancers, who performed to Michael Jackson’s “Thriller.”

Also that ghastly night, South County YMCA once again partnered with Liberty Chapel Community Church, City of Soledad and others to present the annual Harvest Night Festival. The family event featured carnival-style games, candy, face painting, a mechanical bull and giveaways for youth.
