Guillermo “Willie” Salcido, 80, of King City passed away on Wednesday, June 19th, 2019.
Willie was born in Sausillo Chihuahua, Mexico on January 28, 1939, to Higinio and Maria Salcido. He was the proud owner/operator of a local plumbing business, Salcido Service, from 1974 to 2007 and took pride in servicing all of Southern Monterey County. He was a member of St. John’s Church, Knights of Columbus and a former member of the King City volunteer fire department.
He was well known throughout the area for his famous barbequing skills and delicious meals. Some of his happiest moments were family gatherings and celebrations held at the “Rancho Salcido” in Pine Canyon.
Willie loved his family, was a beloved husband and father, and his grandchildren and great granddaughter had the key to his big heart.
He is survived by his wife Lucille of 58 years. Sons: Higinio (Kristin) Salcido, George (Cindy) Salcido, Tom (Sharise) Salcido, and Tim (Chrissy) Salcido. Grandchildren: Jordan, Julianne, Joseph, Mackenzie, Courtney (Juan) Mendoza, Tyler, Trent, Trey and Kelsey. Great-grandchild: Emilia. Sisters: Tommie Morrill and Cruz McDonald, numerous nieces, nephews and god-children. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ana Reid.
FUNERAL SERVICES:
Visitation was held Tuesday, June 25th, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm followed by a 7 pm Recitation of the Rosary at St. John’s Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St. in King City.
Funeral Mass was held at 10am on June 26th, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church.
A Celebration of Life followed the funeral mass in the Orradre Building at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Willie was interred in King City District Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mission San Antonio De Padua or a favorite charity in Willie’s memory.
