On June 14h Ethel Davis peacefully went to be with the Lord at her home in King City. Here last words were “Thank You Jesus! Thank you Jesus!” She was 99 years old.
She was born at Arcadia Nebraska on March 25, 1920. She was married to Chester Davis in 1938 and departed their home in Alpena, Arkansas for King City California the same year. They were married for 53 years until Chester went to be with the Lord in 1991.
Ethel loved to spend time with her family and friends at their trailer at Lake Nacimiento. She and Chester also loved to travel in their camper, trailer or motorhome and went to every state except South Carolina. They also traveled internationally. Ethel is one of the founding members of the First Baptist Church of King City and served at the church for more than 65 years. She shared Jesus Christ with many people in her own way of Love.
Ethel’s favorite thing to do was spend time with her family and friends. She loved parties at her house known as “Mom’s Eats” and cooked meals for everyone. There were times where she would bake a chocolate cake from scratch every day for her boys and their friends to eat after school and on weekends. She was also known for her bottomless chocolate chip cookie jar and later added her crystal glass bowls filled with M&M (plain and peanut). She truly believed that the way to a person’s heart is through their stomach.
No one loves their family like Ethel did. She was so proud of her family and she spent hours telling people how proud of them she was. She was the epitome of what a mother should be. Ethel is survived by her boys Kert (Lee) Davis from Los Gatos, Chris (Kathy) Davis from King City and Terry (Betsy) Davis from Pacific Grove. Her grandchildren Brett Davis, Scott (Amy) Davis, Andrew (Amber) Davis, Colleen (Matt) Bousman, Tim (CJ) Davis, Eliot (Patty) Davis, Rachel (Mike) Muscutt, Nick Davis (deceased), and Paul Davis. She also has eleven (great), great grandchildren Cassidy Davis, Reilly Davis, Mallory Davis, Carter Davis, Piper Davis, Emaly Bousman, Owen Bousman, Jillian Davis, Gannon Davis, Makayla Davis, and Decker Muscutt. She is also survived by Eileen Bennett (her adopted daughter) who visited her every Saturday, neighbors and all her friends that visited her throughout her life in King City.
Along with her family and church Ethel was also a member in the Silver Kings and Queens. She served on PTA and other organizations while her boys were in school. She spent many years helping at the Wildflower Festival making potato salad and chocolate chip cookies for the staff and volunteers. She was involved in and supported many organizations throughout her many years of life in King City.
