KING CITY — Two people were arrested for DUI at a DUI/DL Checkpoint on March 20, according to the King City Police Department.

The checkpoint was held on Broadway and Canal streets from 6 to 11 p.m., during which 506 vehicles were contacted. In addition to the two drivers arrested for DUI, 15 drivers were cited for operating a vehicle unlicensed or with a suspended/revoked license and one driver was arrested for outstanding warrants.

DUI/Driver’s License Checkpoint locations are determined based on reported incidents of impaired driving-related crashes. The primary purpose of these checkpoints is to promote public safety by taking suspected impaired drivers off roads.

The next DUI/DL Checkpoint will be held Aug. 28.

Funding for this checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
