TOWN HALL

SALINAS — Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo will host a County Budget and Housing Town Hall for District 1 residents on Thursday, May 23, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the El Gabilan Library Community Room, 1400 North Main St., in Salinas. A presentation will be made by the Monterey County Budget Director Ezequiel Vega, who will provide an overview of the County’s 2024-25 budget. There will also be a presentation made by Monterey County Housing and Community Development Director Craig Spencer, focusing on the draft county Housing Element plan with maps and areas for future housing in the unincorporated Monterey County. Salinas community members are encouraged to participate in the budgetary process and provide input on these important community topics. For those attending, food and refreshments will be provided. FREE HELMETS

GREENFIELD — A second free helmet giveaway, sponsored by the Greenfield Police Department in partnership with the Monterey County Health Department, will take place Saturday, May 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Oak Avenue Elementary School, 1239 Oak Ave., in Greenfield. There is a limit of one helmet per youth, who must be present. Youth are encouraged to bring their bike, scooter or skateboard. Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.


ADVISORY COUNCIL MEMBERS

CENTRAL COAST — Central Coast Community Energy (3CE) is seeking committed applicants for its volunteer Community Advisory Council (CAC). There is currently one open seat representing San Luis Obispo County; one seat representing Monterey County and one seat for San Benito County will be vacant as of June 6. The CAC is an advisory body to 3CE’s Policy and Operations Boards, and CAC members serve as important connections to the diverse communities 3CE serves. CAC members serve three-year terms. The deadline for applications is May 31. The selection committee will present its recommendations to the Policy Board for approval on June 26. BONUS BRIEF: LIBRARY CLOSURES

MONTEREY COUNTY — All Monterey County Free Libraries locations will be closed Saturday, May 25, in observance of Memorial Day. The Seaside Branch and the Administrative Office will be closed Monday, May 27, for this observance.
