KING CITY — King City Police have arrested a 29-year-old man in connection with a domestic violence incident earlier this week.

On Sept. 20, at about 12:30 p.m., officers from King City and California Highway Patrol responded to a report of a man using a tree branch to strike another man and woman in the 1000 block of Broadway Circle.

Police said witnesses identified the suspect as Amansio Parra Carrillo, 29, of King City, and indicated he had fled the area.

“When officers arrived on scene, they located a male adult who had been struck by the suspect multiple times while attempting to stop Carrillo from harming a female,” police said in a news release.

The male victim told officers he had witnessed Carrillo attack the female victim and decided to intervene to prevent any further harm. As the man was attempting to help the woman, Carrillo “grabbed a thick tree branch and used it to strike the adult male multiple times causing injury,” police said.

Carrillo fled into the riverbed area as officers arrived on scene.

With assistance from the Monterey County Sheriff’s Office and the Aviation Unit of the California Highway Patrol, officers conducted an extensive search for Carrillo but were unable to locate him.

“An ‘All-Points Bulletin’ was issued to law enforcement agencies in the region and efforts to locate Carrillo continued,” police said.

The next day, Sept. 21, at about 9 p.m., King City officers located Carrillo in the 500 block of Canal Street. He was arrested and booked into the Monterey County Jail for domestic violence with injury, assault with a deadly weapon not a firearm, and two counts of domestic violence restraining order violations.
