VOTER TRAINING

SALINAS — Monterey County Elections is hosting a voter registration drive training at 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, at the Government Center at Schilling, Cayenne Room at 1441 Schilling Place – North Building, in Salinas. This training will provide an overview of: requirements to register to vote; how to complete a registration card; treatment and confidentiality of voter registration cards; and laws that protect voter registration. BIKE PROGRAM

GREENFIELD — Greenfield Recreation Department, along with California State Parks, will host a free bike program at Patriot Park in Greenfield beginning this week. The program, for youth ages 10-15, will be every Monday at 4 p.m. and Thursday at 3 p.m. from Sept. 11 through Oct. 26. It will start with short bike rides with the distance increased as it goes on. BBQ FUNDRAISER

KING CITY — On Saturday, Sept. 16, from 12 to 3 p.m., the King City community can support longtime native and local hairstylist Holly Thompson, who is suffering from chronic kidney failure, via a drive-thru barbecue and bake sale. King City’s own Knights of Columbus will be cooking up ribs and beans for the meal, which will also include salad and a roll. There will also be a bake sale on site. Tickets are available at 1st Capital Bank, LA Hearne’s, the Garden House, and from Robin Slocum (831-596-2017) as well as Anne Olson (831-809-4497). The fundraiser will take place at the King City Golf Course parking lot, 613 S.
