KING CITY — Monterey County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an emergency plane landing south of King City on May 17.
At about 10:49 a.m., the plane was traveling to Paso Robles when it suffered a catastrophic engine failure. The pilots turned back to land at King City’s Mesa Del Rey Airport but were unable to make it.
They located an agricultural field and made a safe emergency landing. Neither passengers were injured during the landing.
“They did a great job landing under the conditions they were working with,” the Sheriff’s Office posted on social media. “Only minimal damages to the landing gear.”
