KING CITY — Students and paraeducators from South Monterey County Joint Union High School District’s Adult Transition Program (ATP) celebrated their new classroom adjacent to King City High School earlier this month.

King City Chamber Manager Janet Bessemer joined the group for a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Feb. 3.

The renovated building provides a bigger space for the 16 scholars currently enrolled in ATP, which is for 18-to-22-year-old students with disabilities.

The new Broadway Street location also features a kitchen with counters, cabinets and appliances, as well as two restrooms.

According to Special Education Manager Thien Hoang, the ATP class is located on the KCHS campus to provide students with a “familiar school setting while allowing access to community-based experiences.”
