KING CITY — King City’s Aera Soccer Park field will be closed for all play through January 2023 to restore the turf.

The soccer field was recently renovated in 2020 with a grant from Aera Energy, but regular use has damaged the turf. According to City Manager Steve Adams, it is necessary to close the field for additional reseeding and restoration.

“In order to protect the field so the renovation work will be successful, nobody will be allowed on the field,” Adams said in a news release Sept. 21.

Signage and fencing will be installed this week, and all ongoing soccer games are being relocated to San Antonio Park during this period.

Any illegal access to the field may result in a citation and fine.

“The City has worked hard during the past few years to improve its sports fields to provide higher quality facilities for outdoor recreation for the community, particularly youth activities,” Adams said. “Therefore, the City requests everyone’s support of these efforts by honoring the closure and appreciates everyone’s cooperation.”
