KING CITY — The King City Police Department has added a new police sergeant to its roster. Sgt. Steve Kennedy was sworn in April 17.

Kennedy, originally from Downy, Calif., completed his education and sealed his interest in law enforcement by working with the Gardena Police Department. He attended the College of the Sequoias Police Academy as a sheriff’s trainee for the Tulare County Sheriff’s Office.

Kennedy brings 30 years of experience working for the Tulare Sheriff’s in multiple capacities, including patrol, canine, boating enforcement and detective. His detective work ranges from overseeing property crimes and crimes against children to homicide, narcotics, special weapons and tactics to the Gang Investigations Unit.

“Thank you to Chief Masterson for the opportunity to come help with the department,” Kennedy said. “It’s an honor and a privilege to wear the badge and the uniform of the King City Police Department.”
