KING CITY — King City Police Department responded to a report of a vehicle that was just reported stolen on Dec. 29 at about 11:30 a.m.
“The initial investigation, utilizing review of surveillance video, provided officers with a known suspect identified as Martin Torres,” police said. “Assistance was requested from the California Highway Patrol Air Operations H70, who was in the area on patrol.”
CHP H70 located the stolen vehicle in the 100 block of Sussex Way, with Torres exiting the vehicle and walking into a residence. On arrival of KCPD officers, Torres exited the rear of the residence and tried to hide in a backyard.
Officers contacted Torres and arrested him for the theft of the car, a parole violation and driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was booked into Monterey County Jail without incident, and the vehicle was returned to the owner.
