KING CITY — King City in Bloom (KCIB) volunteers have started their winter workdays, sprucing up areas of the city.
This past Saturday, the group conducted its annual pruning at the windmill — located at the entrance to San Lorenzo County Park on Broadway Street — and at the King City Recreation Center on Division Street.
Among the volunteers who braved the wet weather were KCIB board members Leigh Gallegos and John Pekema, as well as Phoebe Cheney.
“Thanks to you all for braving the weather,” Cheney said. “Your hard work and cheerful attitudes were a real gift to KCIB and our entire community — the fruits of our labor are noticed and appreciated.”
Next, the group will meet Wednesday morning at the Rec Center for another workday, and then will gather Saturday from 9 to 11 a.m. at the King City Library, 402 Broadway St., for a cleanup. Those who would like to participate should bring gloves, rakes, brooms, dustpans, buckets, clippers and/or wheelbarrows.
