KING CITY — Boxers from the King City and San Ardo Boxing Clubs came home with medals after competing at last weekend’s boxing show in Shafter.

Bryan Cruz and Andre Mosqueda of the King City Boxing Club placed first in the 90-pound weight class, and Miguel Hernandez of the San Ardo Boxing Club placed second in the 90-pound weight class.

“Overall, my three boys did super at Shafter,” said head coach Rodolfo Tapia. “Andre and Bryan came back home with first-place wins, and Miguel did very well and earned a second-place medal.”

Local boxers will compete at additional shows later this month.

“On Aug. 17, we are going to a boxing show in Salinas. Grettel Cruz will box at 101 pounds, and the show is called, Las Reinas Del Boxeo, the Queens of Boxing,” Tapia said. “On Aug. 24, we are going to take Bryan, Miguel, Andre and Joel Lozoya of the King City Boxing Club” to another boxing show.
