KING CITY — King City Lady Mustang basketball team gathered Dec. 29 at the Mustang Gym for a game against a group of alumni players. The Lady Mustangs led for most of the game but were defeated 51-44 by the alumni team.
“It was a great time had by all,” said King City head coach Frank Padilla. “It’s always nice to see the alumni come back.”
The current group of Lady Mustangs held a 15-9 lead after the first quarter, took a 28-26 lead into the half, and led 40-34 at the end of the third quarter. In the final quarter, the alumni team outscored their opponents 17-4 to pull out the win.
Jessica Davis led the alumni with 15 points, and her mother Wendy Davis joined her daughter in double-figures with 13 points.
Contributing to the alumni win with points were: Madison Owens, six points; Zenia Silva, five points; Tess Hamilton, four points; Kylee Owens, four points; and Mary Hughes and Allyson Hughes with two points apiece.
Nancy Andrade led the Lady Mustangs with 11 points. Adding points were: Sarah Brewen, seven points; Alex Head, six points; Tori Hamilton, six points; and Jocelyn Garcia and Breanna Owens with two points apiece.
Last night King City (5-8 overall), hosted the Alisal High Trojans in the last non-league game of the season and on Friday will open the Pacific Coast Athletic League’s Cypress Division against the Robert Louis Stevenson Pirates in Pebble Beach.
