KING CITY — King City Police Department served three warrants on March 24 in connection to the shooting case at the Silver Saddle Motel on March 21.
Just a few hours following the shooting of an independent study student in front of the Robert Stanton Theatre, a second shooting occurred just down the street at the Silver Saddle Motel at 725 Broadway St. The shooting injured three people, an 18-year-old male and two juvenile males.
The 18-year-old sustained a single gunshot wound to the upper torso and was transported to a trauma center by air ambulance. The two juvenile victims sustained single gunshot wounds to the lower extremity and were treated at a local hospital.
A witness followed the Mercedes and its three occupants, with two occupants eventually picked up by King City Police at a felony car stop at Spreckles Street and Sobrernos Road. The third occupant was dropped off at an undisclosed location. Monterey County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the gunshot victims along with King City PD units.
Three days later, the two law enforcement agencies
served four search warrants in the case. The search warrant yielded one individual, Branson Barber, 19, who was arrested on possession of an unlawful and unregistered assault rifle.
The two arrested on March 21 were Rolando Gavilan, 18, and a second male juvenile.
The two shooters in the March 21 shooting in front of Robert Stanton Theater are still at large, although there is a photo of one shooter that has been circulating.
According to Police Chief Robert Masterson, the King City Police Department received tips on the identity of the shooter who was caught on King City High School, but they are not releasing his name at this time.
