KING CITY — Local genealogist Dayna Jacobs demonstrates how to use the new microfilm scanner recently installed at King City Branch Library during a dedication ceremony May 30 for the equipment.

A grant from Community Foundation for Monterey County and donations from more than 50 residents helped pay for the new $12,000 machine, which allows better access to area history and genealogy information that can be easily saved electronically or printed out.

The project was sponsored by the Friends of the King City Library with the support of Librarian Robin Cauntay.
