KING CITY — King City High School Mustang Marching Band performed last Friday afternoon during the annual Homecoming Parade.
The young musicians were marching — and not riding on a flatbed — for the first time in six years, according to new Music Director David Bakken.
“Kudos to these marvelous students for taking a leap of faith with (me),” Bakken said.
The Oct. 6 parade traveled along a new route that included Bassett Street this year due to construction on Broadway.
In addition to the Marching Band, members of the 2023 Homecoming Court joined Mustang football players, cheerleaders and other students in the parade, with many riding on decorated floats, classic vehicles and fire engines.
The Mustangs ultimately lost to North Salinas, 46-6, in the Homecoming varsity football game later that night.
