KING CITY — King City’s Beautification Week is just around the corner, and residents and businesses are urged to pick a project to beautify the town.

Beautification Week 2024 will run from June 21-30 under the sponsorship of the King City Chamber of Commerce and Agriculture in partnership with Waste Management, Salinas Valley Recycles, City of King and King City in Bloom.

It is an effort to improve the appearance of the business district and the entire town.

A variety of other events tie in with the promotion including:

  • Community Drop-off Event on Saturday, June 22, sponsored by Waste Management for disposal of bulky items and household hazardous waste at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St., from 8 to 10:30 a.m. or until dumpsters are full;
  • Litter Pickup event sponsored by King City in Bloom on Saturday, June 22, from 8:30 to 10 a.m. Meet at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds. Gloves, bags, coffee and donuts provided;
  • City-wide Yard and Sidewalk Sale from Friday, June 21, to Sunday, June 23. Garage sale permit fees will be waived; and
  • Free Compost Giveaway and Workshop on Saturday, June 29, hosted by Salinas Valley Recycles and Waste Management. Learn how to compost at home and take home compost at no charge. From 10 to 11 a.m. at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St., in King City.

As in the past 31 years, the concept for Beautification Week is to ask every person who lives and works here to do one thing to improve the appearance of their property.
