KING CITY — A group of dedicated volunteers recently took on several projects to beautify King City just in time for the upcoming holidays.
Last Saturday, Nov. 20, volunteers from King City in Bloom and Sun Street Centers helped clean up around the King City Golf Course and King City Recreation Center. Among the tasks at hand were digging and planting new plants at the facilities.
Earlier in November the group also assembled dozens of holiday wreaths to add more festiveness to the city’s downtown area.
King City in Bloom hosted a workday for the project on Nov. 6, during which about 30 local volunteers from the organization as well as Sun Street Centers helped construct the green wreaths with white lights and big red bows.
A total of 40 wreaths were assembled in less than two hours.
“We wanted to help our historic downtown to be more decorated for the holidays,” said Allie Cullen, chair of King City in Bloom. “We thought the green wreath with a red bow and warm white lights were a nice traditional look.”
The holiday wreaths, which were paid for by businesses and community members, will be installed on light poles by Public Works this week. Assembly volunteers were treated to coffee and treats for participating in the project.
“KCIB wants to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wreath sponsors and assembly volunteers,” Cullen said. “Because of our generous community, we are a making a big difference in our little town.”
