KING CITY — King City Police Department responded to a report of a reckless driver possibly hitting a curb around noon on April 2 on King Street, between Willow and Sandringham streets.

Officers noticed fresh tire friction marks at the intersection, vehicle debris in the roadway and on the sidewalk, as well as groves in the roadway leading to a truck that was disabled on Sandown Street. Police said the vehicle was missing its left rear tire and wheel.

The driver — 18-year-old Ramon Felix of King City — was standing next to the truck, and the investigation determined that he was “spinning donuts in the intersection and lost control of the vehicle, causing damage to the curb and roadway,” police said.

The damage to city property was estimated to be greater than $2,500.

Felix was arrested and taken to Monterey County Jail for felony vandalism and reckless driving.

“Fortunately, no one was injured as of a result of this incident,” police said. “The King City Police Department would like to remind the community to drive safely. Reckless driving will not be tolerated and will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.”
