KING CITY — A barrel race fundraiser for Key for a Cure Foundation, in collaboration with St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, will take place this weekend in King City.

“Chasing Dreams, Finding Cures” will host its fifth annual event Nov. 5-7 at the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St. A silent auction, which is open to the public, is set for Saturday, Nov. 6, at the fairgrounds’ Rava Equestrian Arena.

“For children, cancer can be especially heartbreaking and despite advances in how childhood cancer is treated, the reality is 1 in 5 children will not survive cancer,” according to the fundraiser’s news release.

Key for a Cure Foundation, based in Monterey, is a 501(c)(3) public charity founded in 2015 with a commitment to fund innovative pediatric cancer research. All proceeds donated through the event will fund this research and a less-toxic immunotherapy treatment that utilizes advance medical technology to reprogram cancer cells.

The fundraiser has brought in $80,000 in four years, with a goal to bring in another $30,000 this year.

Donations and sponsors are currently being accepted. For more information, contact Janel Flook at 831-524-0324.
