KING CITY — Guests filled the Monterey County Dance Theatre in King City on Sept. 8 to attend Tour de Dance, a charitable event for Monterey County Dance Foundation to raise funds for next year’s production, “The Nightingale,” the first original ballet written for South County.

The event included a silent auction, wine tasting, raffle, food and entertainment, in addition to musical excerpts from “The Nightingale,” based on Hans Christian Andersen’s fairy tale.

The ballet, opening April 2019 at the Robert Stanton Theatre in King City, features an original score composed by Steve Ettinger and choreography by Artistic Director Janette Harkness, with more than 75 local dance students performing and Monterey County Pops orchestra playing the symphony.
