Police investigating murder in Greenfield


GREENFIELD — A Hispanic man was found dead from a gunshot wound Thursday night on the sidewalk near Oak Avenue Elementary School in Greenfield.

According to Greenfield Police, officers responded to reports of gunshots in the 1200 block of Oak Avenue at around 8 p.m. on Jan. 4. Upon arrival, they found a deceased male who “appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound,” police said.

The man’s identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

“The motive for this incident is currently unknown,” police said.

The case is being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit, which is comprised of detectives from Greenfield and King City police departments.
