SOUTH COUNTY — Memorial Day services are planned for Monday morning around South County to honor and remember those who have died while serving in the U.S. military.

Local Memorial Day services on Monday, May 28, are:

King City — 11 a.m., King City Cemetery, 1010 Broadway St.

Greenfield — 9 a.m., Holy Trinity Cemetery, 10th St. and Elm Ave.; 10 a.m., Oak Cemetery, 42603 Elm Ave.

Soledad — 10 a.m., Soledad Cemetery, 1711 Metz Road

Gonzales — 11 a.m., Gonzales Cemetery, 1000 Highway 101

  

Several community barbecues will follow the Memorial Day services, including:

King City — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., VFW Hall, 599 Bitterwater Road; hosted by VFW Post 6747

Greenfield — 12 to 3 p.m., Veterans Memorial Hall, 615 El Camino Real; hosted by American Legion Post 635

Gonzales — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., American Legion Hall, Fifth St.; hosted by American Legion Post 81

  

In observance of Memorial Day, South County Newspapers’ office will be closed Monday.
