KING CITY — A 22-year-old gang member from King City was arrested Tuesday on charges that include vandalism and possession of a concealed loaded weapon.

According to King City Police, officers responded to a vandalism report in the 400 block of South San Lorenzo Avenue on May 16. The victim said a known Hispanic male caused minor damage to their front door before fleeing in a vehicle prior to the officers’ arrival.

The vehicle and suspect were located in the 400 block of Calcagno Street, next to a school. Officers performed a cursory pat down on the suspect and found a loaded semi-automatic handgun in his waistband as well as 7 grams of cocaine.

The suspect, Luis Fernando Garcia, 22, an active southern gang member, was taken into custody without incident. He was transported and booked at the Monterey County Jail in Salinas on charges of vandalism, possession of a concealed loaded weapon, possession of a firearm within 1,000 feet of a school and possession of a controlled substance. His bail was set at $40,000.
